Nitrogen is used nowadays in a wide range of activities. Its range of use varies from food industry to medical purposes.
In agriculture, almost all commercial fertilizers are nitrogen based. In large amounts, such fertilizers erode and decay the soil and pollute the waters, but when they are used correctly, they contribute to extend food production. Natural fertilizers also release nitrogen, but they are more environment friendly.
Nitrogen is being used in laboratories and medical facilities for preserving different organisms and in producing cures for diseases such as Anthrax.
In medicine, liquid nitrogen is used in performing surgeries. The general advantages of this therapy are its ease of use, its low cost, and its good cosmetic results. Most skin cancers are treated with excision or other destructive procedures, such as electrodessication and curettage. Superficial basal cell skin cancers and Bowen disease can be treated with liquid nitrogen instead.
Nitrogen has recently been used in beer production. Many beers use it as an ingredient.
Brewers dissolve nitrogen in the beer, which improves the beer's quality. The right blend between CO2 and nitrogen preserve the composition of beer and prevent or reduce foaming.
As an extent, nitrogen is also used to fill tires. Ingersoll-Rand's Productivity Solutions Group has introduced the Nitrogen Tire Filling System, which enables tires to perform better, last longer and function with a greater degree of safety than tires filled with ordinary compressed air. A dry, inert gas used by racing professionals and the military to inflate race-car tires and military vehicles, this gas leaks through a tire's rubber walls three times more slowly than oxygen. As a result, tires filled with this high-quality gas, delivered by IR's Tire Filling System, stay inflated longer, and therefore grip the road better and provide greater control, in all weather conditions.
It is a clean, moisture-free gas that slows down the tire aging process, unlike oxygen, for example, that is known to erode the rubber on the interior. Nitrogen also solves issues like improper tire inflation and excessive heating, which can lead to catastrophic tire failure, thus causing serious accidents.

Here's Your Chance to Show your Patriotism in 31 Seconds.*
In the United States, it's no longer fashionable for the average person, young or old to get involved in things that might actually help the country improve, succeed and better the quality of people's existence.
People are not up in arms like they should be. In this sound-byte and media-driven world, if it isn't happening now, people don't want to hear about it. They don't care about it. They'll get around to it later ? maybe. That's not how America got through World War II. When citizens had to ration gasoline and tires, sacrifice at the food market and even grow their own vegetables in "Victory Gardens," they didn't stop to question why.
They just did it.And that's what won the war. No self-aggrandizing rhetoric. No "what's-in-it-for-me" second thoughts. The job got done. Period.Today too many people hear only what they want to hear. And it's not always...

Winter Car Care
As the weather turns colder, it is time to think about your car for a second. A little preparation can go a long way to making your winter travels a lot safer. Here is a checklist to get you started. 1. Check the antifreeze. The freezing point can be checked with a simple tool available at any auto parts store.
Make sure you check the antifreeze when it's cool. Opening a hot radiator can be a dangerous thing. 2. Check the air pressure in your tires. As the air gets cooler pressure drops in your tires. Maintaining your tire pressures will reward you with higher gas mileage and longer tire life.
3. Make sure you have the following items in your car.
How to Stop Brake Noise and Keep Your Car Safe
LEESBURG, VA (ContentDesk) August 3, 2005 -- You need a brake job. Five words no motorist wants to hear especially if you have taken good care of your car. "What did the manufacturer?or I?do wrong?" you may ask."Probably nothing," says Joel Burrows, a.k.a. "The Car Doctor" and VP of Training/R&D at Precision Tune Auto Care (PTAC). "The braking system is designed to wear.
If it didn't, it couldn't do the job it does." Burrows advises motorists to view the servicing or replacement of brakes not as repair, which implies a flaw, but as a standard, predictable maintenance item. According to the car doctor, even the noises that brakes make are part of the maintenance design. Braking pads have wear indicators. When the brake pads get worn to a certain point, they are designed to scrape against the turning rotor and make a noise. According to Burrows, those nails-on-chalkboard squeals are alerting you to get your brake system inspected.
That is the impetus behind "Stop the Noise,"...
